Warren

In my town, tomorrow (October 18) is the anniversary of the small plane crash that took Warren away from us. I knew I had this collage in my picture file, but was thinking it was the cover of the booklet that we received at his funeral. As I opened the file, I was so surprised to realize that this had many more pictures, passed on by Betsy sometime earlier this year.

Warren, everyone of these pictures is "so you". No one ever talks about you without saying "that smile", followed by talk of how smart, creative, and so much in love you are with Betsy. Your not being here reminds me that we can never know when someone we love will be gone, whether through death or other loss, and to take nothing for granted. How easy it is to say and how devastating when we forget.

So, in my little way, this entry is dedicated to you. I know you are "up there", but down here, as well. I still have that little Pentax, I have your laptop case on wheels, I have your pictures and your Betsy's friendship. You left us, but you stayed with us in ways that I just can't even articulate. How could we have been so lucky?
