This is the gentleman who has fixed my two pairs of my soggy sandals since I have arrived. As usual, we don't know each other's names, though we have tried. He has a little open air "house" outside the KB Bank, and fixes or shines shoes, while you wait. In this picture, he is using glue to fix my shoe, and will later warm the sandal over the green gas burner to his left. During this visit, he had a friend come in, leave, and return with three little cans of what I took to be coffee. I stuck it in my bag, not offend, as I am "off" any type of coffee since my last Starbucks long before June 23 (but who's counting). Anyway, we "visited" and just as I was ready to leave, my fix-it man took out a golf ball from someplace, and wrote something all over the ball. Later, one of our Korean teachers translated it for me. It told me his name and birthday (sometime in 1956) and the fact that he likes my smile. Very sweet.
I got my train ticket for Seoul for the end of the month and our 5 day holiday.
I remembered to ask for a window seat, so I am set!! This time, I will visit a complex called COEX that has shopping, a 17 screen movie theater, and an aquarium. Will also be going on a tour of the DMZ, which most of you know is the military area between North and South Korea. I expect it to be a very exciting visit!
This week has me "off my pins" somewhat. My schedule has changed due to some renovation at the school and the fixing of the leaking ceiling and wall in my classroom. I understand that the leaking has been stopped. Now I am just praying that the floor will be replaced! It has finally stopped raining, but still overcast. Just a little peak at the sun is all I'm asking. Maybe this weekend! Hope you all have a great weekend! Keep those cards and letters coming!!
