The First Signs of My First Korean Spring

Other than the weather forecast showing the temps in the 50s and 60s for the next 15 days, I'm seeing Spring everywhere!

While winter clothes are on sale, new colorful shoes are all over. But, just like most sites say, if you are coming to Korea, bring your own shoes or be ready to order on-line UNLESS you have a very small foot! I'm sure there are exceptions, but I can't find any shoes for my size 8 foot.

I'm kind of "cheating" with this second picture of all the flowers. I took it in the middle of the winter!! It's so great that flower stalls are all over Geksa. I will have more of these pictures to come. And the third picture was a very welcome sight! These guys are picking up those old orange bags of sand I referenced on February 27.

There's more seasonal news. Today I wore no mask, hat, ear muffs, gloves, or scarf and wore a lighter coat. But that's about the only thing special about this week so far. After last week's craziness of starting the new school year, "nothing special" seems pretty great. I keep looking at all the sweaters I need to put away, but I won't get too excited to do that, because I know that anytime, we could get snow, just like Chicago in April.

I'm getting involved with another pool in Phoenix. If you know college basketball, you know "March Madness." I'm excited to be involved in sports "anything" and I'm feeling the old "North Carolina/Kansas" pull. Even though Roy Williams coached waaaaaaaaay after my time at KU, I was able to meet him in the 90's, during one of his every-5-year player reunions when I attended with Mark Mathews, who played for KU during my school years. Roy returned to his Alma Mater, North Carolina, to coach, and since then I have wanted him to win it all, but I want Kansas to do the same. Nice dilemma to have. Not world peace or nuclear proliferation, I know.

So,for now, I'm just focused on our great weather and will worry about basketball tomorrow.
