"It Snowed".....My Only Excuse

How about "The dog ate my homework?" My brain just wouldn't get motivated to blog, despite all the stuff going on around here. The new president was inaugurated, the New York Philharmonic performed in North Korea last night, I saw more movies, etc, etc.

When it snowed a few nights ago, it was only the second "real" snow of the season. For all the worrying I did over the summer about how I was going to get down my hill to the school, when winter weather set in, I have been fine. I actually had a dream a couple of months ago about getting a flattened box and sliding down the hill to keep from falling on my butt. Unfortunately, I had to roll into slush to avoid sliding on into the traffic at the bottom. Any dream analyzers out there? Please don't tell me. I already have a pretty good idea about what that all means.

This first picture was taken in the neighborhood. And what are those orange bags? Jeonju's answer to do-it-yourself traction in bad weather. The bags are full of sand and sit at convenient spots up and down the hills leading to my house. You just "crack open" a bag and spread the sand as needed. This picture was taken in front of a city building where you can just drop by and get as many bags as you need. The downside of these bags is that they litter the sides of the street rather than being picked up by their users.
