Happy 2008!! and A New IPO

I would never dreamed a year ago, that I would have been sitting in South Korea on December 31, 2007. But, not only am I here, but I have a list of things "a mile long", as my mother used to say, for which I am so happy and grateful.

This blog marks the beginning of a "new era", in that I am going "public", hence the IPO in my title today. Not Initial Public Offering, as in the stock market, but as in, I am going out to anyone on the Internet who wants to read it. Since I started, I was only making the blog available to those of you whom I know. But after some thought and so many questions from others who are interested in traveling and teaching in South Korea, I decided "what the heck". If someone wants to view my blog, get excited about coming here, then I want to help that person as much as I can.

So, I hope to be changing the slant of my writing somewhat. I haven't expressed as much as I could regarding some of the cultural changes I have experienced and also the crazy things that have happened, out of respect for this country. In other words, I have been honest, but not to the extent that I could. Some of my reluctance has been because I felt some might worry about me, but since I have lived through my first 6 months of really great, and not so great times, I think I can open up the flood gates and let it all come.
Best to all of you in 2008. Keep those cards and letters coming!
