Spam and Grape Seed Oil Thanksgiving

On September 21, my Blog explained that I would be having Monday-Wednesday off, as the 25th was Chuseok, the Korean equivalent of our Thanksgiving Day. I referenced a gift that everyone received from our employer. As you can see to the left, here is the gift of three cans of Spam and grape seed oil, which I understand is a traditional Korean gift. I haven't opened any of it, but it's great to look at!

I am having pretty mixed emotions about being here this time of year, but not of the "homesick" variety. It will be the first time since I have been on this earth that I will work on Thanksgiving Thursday (or Friday for that matter) ever. But it isn't the working here necessarily, just the feeling of not having the freedom to do what I choose to do with those two days. The Internet (and Skype) keeps me in touch with most of you, so, with a little fortitude, the coming few days will go quickly. I know I will miss the excitement of a special dinner and the crazy day after when Christmas "officially" begins. Looking at Target's web site just isn't the same as being there.

It has REALLY turned cold, but thank God, still bright and sunny. I pulled one of my "waking up at 3 AM" deals this morning, hearing it rain and thunder. Later on, I read it snowed 2 inches in Seoul. Give me rain, any day! I think most of you know that the heating system in my apartment is via water pipes in the floor, which is proving to be heavenly.

So, with that, I wish you all the best Thanksgiving with children, brothers, sisters, spouses, grandchildren, etc, etc. Lift a turkey leg, a little taste of pumpkin pie, or spoonful of cranberries to me, will you? But not to worry....things here are great!! Keep those cards and letters coming!!
