Finally, they approached me, telling me that for their school holiday project, they needed to interview as many foreigners as they could meet. I was certainly happy to help. The interview included 5 questions re: my citizenship, state, city, occupation, and lastly "your best singer". I helped them understand that in America we would say "favorite" singer and immediately drew a blank re: a response. Eventually, I told them "Rain", whom I understand, from my reading, is a famous Korean singer. They looked at my response and laughed. Thinking we were done, I started to leave, only to be told that the last part was that they had to prove they had talked to me by having my picture taken with them. I agreed to this final stipulation, if they agreed to let me take their picture as well. It was great!! I stayed in the bookstore nearly 2 hours and got out with only 3 books and a map of the US for my classroom. That might be a new world's record for me!
The next day, I spent a considerable amount of time around Itaewon exploring the main street as well as all the little side streets. Will be writing tomorrow about my time my last evening there, at one of the two famous markets in Seoul. You need it? They had it!
My Monday has gone fast. Walked home at noon for lunch and some reading. Now, home for the evening. Hoping to get back to the movies this weekend. AND, expecting a "care package" from my great friend, Dawn, in Atlanta! Hope your week has started out as a good one! Keep those cards and letters coming!
