Why Did I Come Back?

Everyone has been asking why I came back from teaching in Korea. There's no short answer, because I had no intention of staying in the States, when I came back to Arizona for my 3 month winter vacation.

I know! THREE months! Having a longer vacation was a great perk of teaching English at a small university. I really loved it there, but as the economic changes started hitting everyone in the world, I was not exempt.

My salary at the university was not as great as when I was teaching at a hagwon (academy) when I first arrived. Why? NO over-time that's so easy to come by when you're working sometimes over 9 hours a day at a hagwon. It was grueling, but nice on the pocketbook.

Therefore, once I got back and the bottom was falling out of the exchange rate from the Korean won to the dollar, it made it necessary to stay in Arizona. It was a really hard decision, but because of the nature of my job at the university, there were people lining up around the block to take my place, I'm sure.

Ultimately, I was sooooooooo happy to be back in familiar territory of Arizona, but that was about to change. Stay tuned!
