Well, I'm back at it...blogging from Boise, America.
In Korea, I knew I had an "audience" of friends who were reading about my life there. And then, came the readers who were either in Korea teaching, people coming or considering teaching in other countries. It was great, because I felt "in touch" with someone, no matter their intention.
But, once back in the States, the wind came out of my sails, as I was feeling that, without an exotic location, I didn't have much to say. What changed my mind? Several things, including an email this week from a young woman who taught in Korea at one time and is doing her dissertation on the importance of archiving blogs about Korea. She motivated me to go back and take a look of my pictures, my writing and suddenly I realized that I have lots of things to say and communicate.
What else? I DO live in a place that some people would consider "exotic": Boise, Idaho (more on how I got here later) AND I work, and have worked, going on 10 years, for an amazing organization that some think is exotic also: The International Rescue Committee (www.theirc.org). More about them later as well.
So! Hello World. I'm back at it!
