Over the last several months, these three spots have opened in "my backyard!"
I could have sworn that the storefront above would have been a "high rent" beauty parlor, given it glitzy red tiles. In reality, it's a traditional Korean instrument school. It's that cool? Each morning as I walk by, I hear beautiful sounds coming from within. It's a very tranquil moment on my way to the school.
I feel like I'm in the States, when you hear people say: "Just what we need, another ________." So, just what we need: another grocery. I am all for entrepreneurship, but brother, we have had 2 new groceries open within a very close distance to two long-established ones just in the last 10 months. The owner of this new spot isn't very "smiley" and wouldn't let me separate the bananas on my first and only visit. I continue to go, as needed, to my original shop further up my hill.
The icing on the cake of new shops in my neighborhood, is this shop with over 200 types of succulents! Each pot is hand-thrown, in wonderful earthy colors. I hope to get some "closer-up" pictures over the next several weeks. Upon her leaving, Sheila presented me with a darling pot with a small succulent planted inside. I have to visit the shop, with plant in hand, to learn the exact type. I'm from, what I always thought was the heart of succulent country, Arizona, but had no idea that over two hundred types existed in the world. How could I now love THIS town?
